Mats Winsa 1955 - 2018
It is with great regret we see the passing of Mats Winsa in July.
His visits were inspirational and informative.
The work he did in collaboration with others gave us unique structures such as the special building and surrounds at the Arctic Circle on Väg 97 & our own award winning, Svenska Träpriset 1992, Vuollerim 6000 building.
It was truly a privilege watching & listening to Mats present an account of his developing ideas and the eventual construction of Vuollerim6000, along with his own photo library. We were also lucky enough to have him share the same for the Arctic Circle structure. Amazing stuff.
His support for changes, upgrading & extensions to the building, some similar to his original plans that were not followed through on, gave us confidence in our efforts, during a pre-study in late 2016, into developing a combined use of the building for business and at the same time upgrades for the ageing building.
It saddens us to relinquish the use of the building due to its neglect and that of surrounding area & structures by the owners. Seeing it fall into a state of general disrepair, unsafe for the general public as well as users, too costly to run with out of date & old technology and an unwillingness to sell to us even with contractual agreement that would see the kommun have first option to purchase it back.
With our business and energies invested so heavily in the building we already had avenues open to access funds to begin improvements and changes immediately.
We can only hope that Mats is watching down from his now lofty heights favourably. A view we have no doubt he wishes he had access to while still with us, although his imagination often went there anyway.
To his family & friends left behind we wish our most sincere condolences.
The creative ones among us are a light in our lives noticeable missed.
Det är med stor sorg vi får reda på att Mats Winsa gick bort i mitten på juli.
Hans besök och visiter till Vuollerim var både inspirerande och informerande.
Arbetet han gjorde, ibland tillsammans med andra, gav oss unika strukturer som den speciella byggnaden med omgivning vid rastplatsen Polcirkeln längs väg 97
och vår egen Vuollerim6000-byggnad som erhöll svenska Träpriset 1992.
Det var verkligen ett privilegium att få se och lyssna till Mats när han, med bilder från sitt personliga album, presenterade och visade sina idéer med ritningar och material från konstruktionen av dessa två speciella platser.

Hans stöd till förändringar, uppgraderingar och tillägg till Vuollerim6000 byggnaden, vissa som delvis påminde om en del av Mats ursprungliga planer som inte gick igenom, gav oss bekräftelse på att arbetet vi gjorde under en förstudie i slutet av 2016 var på rätt spår. Den bestod i att utveckla en kombinerad användning av huset, som företag och även en samtidig uppgradering av den något föråldrade byggnaden.
Det är sorgligt att vi måste avstå från att använda byggnaden på grund av försumligheten av ägarna till omgivningen och strukturerna.
Att se förfallet, att byggnaderna numer är osäkra att använda, för dyra kostnader med föråldrad teknik och gammal el. Allt detta samt en ovillighet att sälja till oss även med ett kontraktsavtal som skulle innehålla kommunens förhandsrätt att köpa tillbaka det.
Med all energi vi och vår förening investerat i byggnaden hade vi även tagit reda på möjligheter att få tillgång till medel till omedelbara förbättringar.
Vi kan bara hoppas att Mats ser ner på oss från sina nu höga höjder på ett positivt sätt.
En vy vi inte har någon tvekan om att han önskat sig ha tillgång till medan han fortfarande var bland oss.
Med den fantasin han hade tog han sig nog ofta dit upp ändå!
Till familjen och vännerna han lämnat efter sig sänder vi vår mest uppriktiga medkänsla.
De kreativa bland oss är som ljus i våra liv, som man saknar.
